okay fine, i did like the mushroom soup
friday night was dinner at prince albert in intercon. it was
a school activity set for the entire french class... so off
we went all dolled up to have a fine dining experience at this
well-known restaurant. everyone looked all prim and proper,
gracious, and seemingly respectable- the exact opposite of our
kitchen counterparts. the place was very nice, very formal and
business-like with photo-filled walls of diplomats.
here's the thing, i never thought dining with a group of chefs was
going to be such a hilarious experience. it was like watching a
bunch of surgeons dissect an alien specimen. actually, no...
more like serious movie critics watching a movie starring
joey marquez in a drama role. if you know joey marquez, then
you know where this is going.. table comments went
something like this...
the menu:
parma ham, salad greens in vinaegrette
*** "is this radish in the ham roll?"
mushroom soup
*** "tastes like campbell soup" "shiitake? dried.."
salmon in butter sauce with ratatouille
*** "overdone?" "yes, definitely"
"they even managed to burn the leeks!(as garnish)"
apple tart and vanilla ice cream
*** "where's the tart?didn't it say tart?" "ice cream's too stiff.."
i personally hated the dessert. the apple was much
too sour, and yes, where the hell was the tart?
the place should've been more OC(lack of a better term) since they
were informed that a group of chefs and culinary
students were coming in for dinner. we didn't exactly
order the most expensive items on the list but still.
the simplest menu should be at THE VERY LEAST satisfactory.
too bad i forgot to bring my camera to show how really
burnt those leeks were! :)
