three minutes of eternity

i'm not really sure when it started. when i
was a kid,i used to have really good memory. i
can absorb a full lecture without taking down
any notes and ace that exam. okay, maybe just
one exam :) the point is... when i hit college,
things suddenly became one big blur. i started
forgetting dates, stuff i said to ex boyfriends,
people's names, sometimes even what i had for
dinner the previous night.
but some things... i can vividly recall from
memory. just like in a dream, in full color
all in my head. about two nights ago, i had one
of those moments. a rather serious, life-altering
discussion with a friend. it had something to do
with the way things are and how things are not
supposed to be- too complicated for words actually.
what really amazed me during that night was
this brief moment in time that i don't think i'll
ever forget. kinda like in the movies, when a
verdict's about to be announced, or the hero
about to open the door into some unknown abyss.
that short time just before everything unfolds and
changes your life forever. i had one of those.
for what felt like eternity, my heart pounded
anxiously waiting yet dreading the outcome. i
could've died from a heart attack right then and
there. but i didn't.

yet somehow it felt like i did.
