pseudocalifragilisticespialigocious
i wrote an entry some weeks ago about a friend's dilemma with her so-called "pseudo" guy. i promised to write something entirely devoted on the topic one of these days, putting it off again and again due to my own pseudo hang-ups. anyway, i woke up early this morning (yes, unbelievably so, on a saturday) thinking it's about time i give the issue a slot in today's schedule. so here we are, warming up for an in-depth analysis on those highly familiar situations under unfamiliar circumstances... the pseudo specie slowly evolves from the opposite sex. male. usually your common boy-next-door or bestfriend-for-years type. sometimes, but not too often, that guy you just met but barely even noticed. you can talk to this guy about anything, and i mean anything- movies, books, music, what you had for lunch, places you'd wanna see if you had all the money in the world, if-you-were-on-a-deserted-island scenarios, favorite restos, pet peeves, that guy/girl you absolutely abhor, the first time he got beat up, the first time you got your wisdom tooth pulled out, even shopping, gossiping, and of course, brad pitt. (well, at least in my case) this goes on, oh you know, maybe for weeks, months, even years. and before you know it, you have
slipped into a routine. something, anything that will bring you together on a regular basis: lunch every tuesdays, movies every weekend, phone at the end of the day, you get my drift. all this is very casual. just like one of the girlfriends. why not. and you wonder. wow. all this time spent talking, endless conversations, so unbelievably cool... you never get bored, and (gasp) you actually start to miss him when he's not there. this is when that tiny voice in your head pops up, completely out-of-nowhere, with this outrageous notion of a "what if". of course this tiny voice sometimes never pops up UNTIL that average guy makes some move, almost always subtle, that you find somehow out of the ordinary, out of place. (i.e. not in your regular routine) the turn of events can come either as a very slow brew, OR right smacking at you (not always literally HAHA). for those who've been there, you know the rest of the story. sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. just like in any other relationship, it's always a learning experience. but for people who've never run into the pseudo specie, you might wanna check out the the pros and cons before you give that potential pseudo a chance to change your life forever.
PROS:
1. perks of having a boyfriend minus the burdens of commitment.
2. you can still see other people.
3. finally. someone who gets you. it's just like therapy but free!
4. he doesn't have to be perfect since you're not considering anything long term.
CONS:
1. you need a heart of steel not to fall for this guy.
