oh i remembered... but so did he
intro to entrepreneurial class went by with discussions on life visions, career missions, and the whole gamut on what it takes to be that someone who takes over the business world. i had no intention of taking the class in the beginning, but some self-discovery (and a whole lot of handouts on "what is my purspose in this world?")got me signing up which will unfortunately extend my culinary education for a couple of more months. a couple shouldn't hurt right? i'm so keeping my fingers crossed that the next weeks will be productive and at the very least ground-breaking(HA!).
to get us geared up for the whole "nothing is impossible" speech, the prof had us watch robin william's "patch adams"- an inspiring movie about a man's discovery of his love of becoming a doctor. off the career theme, and more about what got to me during the movie, was the part where patch began reciting neruda's poem to monica potter. argh! my heart was wrenched for some reason i care not to tell anymore. anyway, i don't know any other poetry more romantic than this one...
i do not love you
by pablo neruda
I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.
I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way
than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.
